Another of George's shining moments appears when he becomes a marine biologist and saves the life of a whale. This is different from many other episodes in which George has a problem in that he did not initiate it in the first place. It was Jerry who told George's date Diane that he was a marine biologist. As a result, he must maintain the story and ultimately some good comes out of it.
George shines here and proves himself a winner in that he selflessly, even though he is guilted into it, goes into the sea and helps the whale. He could have said no or made up an excuse not to but he ultimately does. How could a loser do that? He couldn't, he wouldn't. Although portrayed in an extremely humorous way, George explains not only to his friends, but also to viewers that he is not a loser. He risks his life to impress a woman. Even though that appears extreme and maybe a little vain, George shows us that he is dynamic, he is witty, and if necessary he will solve problems selflessly like a winner would.
